So as luck would have it, while I was ready to roll right into my next album project, Mother Nature had other plans for me, unfortunately. My family and I had traveled to visit my folks in Florida just after Christmas for several days which was a great time, BUT: When we returned home from a very long drive, we discovered that the lowest level of our split-level home (which includes a guest bedroom and my studio) had flooded. There was a 5-6 inch rain within an hour or so and our drainage system had been blocked by leaves & other debris… However, with all the different weather-related disasters our country has experienced as of late, I quickly realized this was nothing even remotely comparable to what so many people have had to go through recently so I had to maintain perspective and continue to be grateful for how blessed & fortunate my wife and I are to have only this inconvenience to deal with!! All the carpet had to come out while a water damage mitigation service spent several days using thunderous drying fans & dehumidifiers (which were awesome to listen to for days on end btw (AAARRRRGGHHH!!). Needless to say, EVERYTHING had to be broken down & moved out. We decided the best flooring option moving forward was to have stained concrete done (just in case!) which was a process in itself. So, the floor project is finally finished and I'm just now in the middle of moving things back in and starting reconstruction of the studio. Riprock Music WILL rise again very soon and I sincerely hope to be working on new music sooner than later…
